Report: Majority of Manufacturers Expect to Embrace IIoT by 2022
Zebra Technologies Corp., a provider of connected hardware, software and services, has released the results of its 2017 Manufacturing Vision Study. The study reveals that a majority of manufacturers expect to adopt Industry 4.0 technologies in the immediate future in order to enhance visibility and improve quality. By 2022, the study notes that:
• 64 percent of the respondents expect to be fully connected.
• One-half of respondents expect to adopt wearable technologies, with 55 percent of current users expecting to expand their usage over the same period.
• 51 percent of respondents plan to expand the use of voice technology.
• Only one-fifth of respondents expect to continue using manual processes (e.g., pen and paper) to track important manufacturing steps.Zebra surveyed 1100 decision-makers who influence technology purchases across North America, Latin America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. Sixty-three percent of survey respondents cite tracking as the core focus of future technology adoption, with a blend of technologies expected to be deployed.
