How to Make Portable Welding/Cutting Equipment Even More Portable

Monday, August 25, 2014

Esab Welding & Cutting Products, Florence, SC, introduces convenient carrying cases for two of its most portable welding and cutting machines, the MiniArc 161LTS power source for GTAW/stick welding and the PowerCut 400 manual plasma-cutting system. These lightweight, highly portable machines now are more portable than ever, making them ideal for transport on or offsite as the job demands.

Weighing only 18 lb., the MiniArc 161LTS provides 115 or 230 V, single-phase power. When welding in DC mode, the machine provides 5 to 160 A. It features a fixed hot-start function that allows the welder to easily strike an arc without the electrode sticking to the plate. Another standard feature, Lift Arc TIG, allows the welder to lift the tungsten, eliminating the risk of depositing tungsten into the plate.  The new carrying case features locking clips with easy-carry handle and includes a quick-reference guide inside.

The PowerCut 400, part of the PowerCut Series of manual plasma-cutting products has a manual cutting capacity of 3/8 in., and severs material to ½ in. Recommended piercing capacity is 3/16 in. Inside its new lightweight carrying case is a handy cutting guide that provides information on cutting parameters as well as replacement torch consumables.
