Servomechanical Presses from 200 to 400 Tons, Other Mechanicals to 3200 Tons
November 5, 2024Comments
Zani SpA announced the launch of a new line of presses, the Servo Smart series, due out by year’s end. Designed to provide flexibility, increased productivity, lower energy consumption, and reduced maintenance and die wear, Servo Smart presses are available in 200-, 300- and 400-ton-capacity versions.
Servo Smart presses employ Siemens servo packages: motors, drives and energy-management functions. These SiMotion SimoPress Servo packages offer functionality that calculates a movement profile from the parameters of the press and the drive train that optimizes both the forming process and the energy consumption. The packages also reportedly enable rapid die setups that require only a few parameters.
An Italian machine manufacturer founded in 1960, Zani SpA has embarked on increasing its North American presence with mechanical and servomechanical presses in capacities from 130 to 3200 tons, as well as service and partner support in various U.S. states and across Canada. The company is known for providing standard energy-saving presses capable of real-time quality monitoring, with data analysis enabling continuous improvement and improved press and die life, according to company officials. Zani also specializes in tailor-made presses based on customer needs and specifications. Officials also explain that Zani has fully adopted an Industry 5.0 strategy. Industry 5.0 refers to robots and smart machines working in tandem with humans, with a focus on sustainability.
At FABTECH and a week prior at BI-MU, an Italian machine-tool trade show, Zani SpA noted U.S installations that include a 250-ton Zani Power Master mechanical press with 10,000-lb.-capacity uncoiler at CDH Custom Roll Form, Inc., in Warren, OH (second photo). Reportedly set for delivery in early 2025 to a Detroit automotive stamper: a Zani 630-ton slow-down-movement mechanical press.
