The Laser Institute of America (LIA) has renewed its alliance with the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), to continue providing its members with information to help prevent exposure to laser-beam and nonbeam hazards in industrial and medical workplaces. OSHA and LIA share information on laser regulations and standards, and the alliance recently has produced the Laser Safety Information Bulletin. LIA also recently released the new ANSI Z136.1 document, Safe Use of Lasers.

Auditing Service Helps Laser Users Stay Safe

The LIA also has created a new auditing service designed to help industrial laser users keep their facilities safe and OSHA-compliant. The Industrial Laser Safety Audit is based on the ANSI Z136.1 Safe Use of Lasers standard, and includes a review of training requirements, hazard analysis and nonbeam-hazards assessment.
