Formtek-Maine will display a new high-capacity compact press-feed system at FABTECH 2023, engineered for an end user producing off-the-road tires and wheels. The 24-in.-wide line consists of a combination straightener/feeder with holddown peeler station and a motorized stock reel, and can process cold-rolled steel to 0.375 in. thick at full width in coils weighing to 15,000 lb.
The straightener/feeder features seven 4-in.-dia. backed-up straightener rolls and four 6-in.-dia. powered pinch rolls, along with powered upper-roll adjustment, two sets of handwheel-adjusted edge guides, powered passline-height adjustment, a consolidated controls package with full-color touchscreen HMI, and a secondary encoder pinch-roll assembly. The entry holddown peeler station includes a hydraulic powered holddown arm with powered wheel, and a hydraulic powered peeler table with coil-breaker clamp arm to facilitate hands-free thread-up when paying off of the top or bottom of the coil.
