More Production, More Service: Schuler North America Breaks Ground on Building Expansion
July 11, 2024 Comments
Schuler North America, North American subsidiary of Schuler Group GmbH, broke ground on its 10,000 sq. ft. building expansion on Friday, May 10, 2024. The ceremony was held at the company’s Canton, Michigan headquarters. Employees, city officials, and building partners were in attendance to celebrate the significant milestone.
“This ceremony is an important milestone for us. It marks the beginning of the expansion of our production and service capabilities,” says Klaus Hertell, Vice President of Hydroforming at Schuler North America
The North American headquarters was built in 2000 and is now home to several key business areas—including service, engineering, project management, sales and marketing, and, notably, inhouse tubular hydroforming production. The shop floor is currently equipped with two hydroforming presses (an 8500-ton and 3500-ton) that run production five days per week across three shifts. A new opportunity arose in 2023, emphasizing the need for an additional 5000-ton hydroforming press, bending cell, and automation that required a building expansion.
“This expansion will provide us with the resources and capabilities needed to better serve our customers, support our employees, and contribute meaningfully to the communities we call home,” says Kevin McAllister, President of Schuler North America
The expansion will take place throughout the remainder of 2024. The new press is currently being manufactured in Brazil at Prensas Schuler, another subsidiary of Schuler Group GmbH, and will arrive in Detroit late November.
