New Prima Power Laserdyne Laser for Chinese Tech. Center

Tuesday, April 7, 2015
Prima Power Laserdyne, Champlin, MN, is set to install a Laserdyne 430BD laser system at the new Prima Power Technology Center in Suzhou, China. The center will provide laser process development for Asian customers seeking solutions to a range of fabricating challenges. The six-axis system will be equipped with a 15-kW QCW fiber laser and demonstrate precision cutting, welding and drilling in a range of materials. Designed to be used for 2D and 3D components, the system operates at speeds to 800 in./min. in the x, y and z axes with bi-directional accuracy of 0.0005 in. throughout its large work envelope. An optional, fully integrated and interpolated sixth-axis rotary table extends the size of components that can be processed in the system.
The Laserdyne 430BD includes a full complement of hardware and software features for integrated control of the laser, motion and process sensors. The high level of integration provides greater process control and flexibility, and is the basis for capabilities affecting the processing speed and quality of laser-processed components.
A full staff of Chinese-speaking engineers, salespeople and management personnel will coordinate Laserdyne’s participation in the center.

Metal Service Center to Install Large Waterjet Cutter

Monday, April 6, 2015
Jacquet West, Carson, CA, a metal service center supplying stainless steel and nickel alloys, is installing a waterjet-cutting system from Jet Edge Inc. To be the second Jet Edge cutter at this location, the large-format mid-rail gantry system features a 12 by 21-ft. table, which enables Jacquet West to process 8 by 20-ft. or 10 by-20-ft. plates. Powered by a 60,000-psi 10-hp intensifier pump, the ball-screw driven waterjet system offers repeatability of +/- .001 in., and features dual independent cutting heads that can double production. The system also has submerged or above-water cutting capabilities as well as height-sensing capabilities to react to inconsistent plate height.
