FABTECH Canada to Feature Panel Discussion on Workplace Diversity

Women in Manufacturing, the Precision Metalforming Association and MetalForming magazine will host a diversity-focused panel discussion to kick off the three-day conference accompanying FABTECH Canada, scheduled for March 18-20 in Toronto. The opening-day panel discussion, Diversity in the Workplace: Embracing Women in Manufacturing, begins Tuesday, March 18 at 8:30 am with a keynote address by racecar driver Jessi Combs. Participating in the panel discussion: Natalie Panek, mission systems and operations engineer with MDA Space Missions; and Karin Lindner, founder of Karico Performance Solutions. Esab Cutting Machines Meet New EN ISO Safety Standard

Esab Welding & Cutting Products, Florence, SC, announced that its cutting systems stand in full compliance with the new European EN ISO standard 17916, governing the safety of thermal-cutting machines. Machines manufactured at the firm’s facility in Karben, Germany, will meet the new safety requirements, slated to go into effect late in 2014. The standard requires OEMs to conduct safety evaluations and testing, defining risks to operators and the measures developed to counter them.
