Nelson Steel, Butech Bliss to Build Push-Pull Pickling Line for Steel Dynamics

Friday, February 6, 2015
Nelson Steel and Butech Bliss are partnering to build a push-pull pickling line at Steel Dynamic’s facility in Butler, IN. The company’s existing hot-band finishing line in Butler is undergoing an upgrade that will enable it to convert hot-band steel to hot-rolled pickled and oiled coils in thicknesses to 3/8 in. and widths to 64 in. at speeds to 600 ft./min. The line will retain its ability to level and side-trim hot-band coils when required, by bypassing the pickling line.
Nelson Steel’s Consulting & Technology Group, Stoney Creek, Ontario, Canada, provides design and onsite supervision of the processing sections of the line while Butech Bliss, Salem, OH, provides exit and terminal equipment. Construction began this January and line startup is scheduled for late 2015.
