Boeing Opens First Euro Manufacturing Site

Monday, October 29, 2018
Boeing, the United States aircraft manufacturer, has opened its first European manufacturing site in South Yorkshire, England. The $51-million, 67,000-sq.-ft. factory produces for the company’s 737 and 767 planes, more than 100 different actuation-system parts. The parts are shipped to Portland, OR where they are assembled before being sent to Boeing factories for installation on plane wings. The systems move the flaps at the back of the wing to provide extra lift at low speeds during takeoffs and landings.
