By the end of April 2010, Oberg Industries, Inc. will add more than 6000 sq. ft. to its manufacturing plant in Costa Rica, enlarging the facility to 21,000 sq. ft., partly as a result of its growth in the medical-device market. The facility also just achieved ISO 9001:2008 registration, a first step toward meeting its 2010 growth objectives, according to Oberg president and CEO Robert Wag-ner. Oberg, headquartered near Pittsburgh, PA, is working toward ISO 13485:2003 certification by year end.
ACS Precision, LLC, Mercersburg, PA, received its certification to ISO 9001:2008. ACS provides fabrication and contract-manufacturing services including CNC laser cutting (using a Mitsubishi 2512 LXP 4030D 48 by 96-in. machine), waterjet cutting and machining, as well as AWS-certified welding.
Metal fabricator Ohio Laser LLC, Plain City, OH, earned ISO 9001:2008 registration. The firm provides advanced metrology, laser cutting and other fabricating services including welding, waterjet cutting, bending, machining and heat treating. It recently installed a new 3D laser-scanning system for inspection of formed and assembled products as large as 48 by 48 in. in a single scan.
