Solar Atmospheres Adds 10-Bar Furnace
July 1, 2018Comments
Solar Atmospheres, Inc., Hermitage, PA, has added a $1.8-million vacuum furnace designed to quench with argon at 10 bar using a 600-hp variable-speed motor running at 460 V. The goal of the massive quench system by Solar Manufacturing, Inc., Souderton, PA, is to quench larger batches of power-generation castings by increasing the cooling rate and eliminating the supplemental use of helium. The furnace incorporates Solar Manufacturing’s SolarVac 5000 control system, which allows for complete process automation.
