Nikon Announces July 2023 Opening of CA-Based Advanced-Manufacturing HQ

Nikon Corp. has announced the formation of California-based Nikon Advanced Manufacturing, Inc., set to begin operations in July 2023 with Hamid Zarringhalam as CEO and Yuichi Shibazaki as co-CEO. Described as a new customer-centric digital manufacturing solutions entity, this facility will serve as the global headquarters of Nikon’s Advanced Manufacturing business unit, which was established earlier in April.

The launch marks a significant milestone in the Nikon Vision 2030 strategic plan, where the Japan-based company established the goal to become a key technology-solutions provider in a global society where humans and machines co-create seamlessly, with a strategic emphasis on digital manufacturing, according to Nikon officials. SLM, Morf3D and other Nikon digital-manufacturing investments will consolidate within Nikon Advanced Manufacturing, Inc. and the new company also will be responsible for existing additive manufacturing business.

This marks the first time in the company’s century-plus existence that the global headquarters of a Nikon business unit will be located outside of Japan.
