Solar Atmospheres Earns Inspection Certification

Vacuum heattreater Solar Atmospheres of Western PA, Hermitage, PA, has renewed its nondestructive-testing certification covering fluorescent-liquid-penetrant inspection, used to look for cracks immediately following heattreating. The firm, which also operates plants in Fontana, CA, and Souderton, PA, reportedly houses the world’s largest commercial vacuum furnace (80 by 60 by 432 in.);

Coe Press Equipment, Sterling Heights, MI, appointed Subramaniam Manivannan director of quality and lean manufacturing;

Messer Cutting Systems, Inc., Menomonee Falls, WI, named Bill Heller president and CEO, effective September 2014. Heller, who replaces Gary Norville, previously served the company as a product manager overseeing material handling and laser machines. The firm manufactures gantry machines for drilling and for plasma, oxyfuel and laser cutting;

De-Sta-Co, Auburn Hills, MI, a manufacturer of positioning and workholding equipment, named Mats Ceder president, replacing the retiring John Podczerwinski;

United Performance Metals, Hamilton, OH, welcomed Ian Moore as an account manager, and Austin Derkson as a customer service representative. The firm supplies high-temperature, high-strength and corrosion-resistant alloys;

Stewart EFI, LLC, Thomaston, CT, a supplier of small metalformed parts and secondary assemblies, hired Tony Pascariello as general manager. He’ll oversee its stamping and tooling facilities;
