Big Servo Press on Way to Gestamp in Germany

Monday, December 19, 2016

Spanish press builder Arisa, a subsidiary of Nidec Minster Corp., is set to begin shipping what is reportedly the world’s most powerful servo press, featuring two slides with a combined stamping force of more than 5000 tons.

Multinational automotive stamper Gestamp Automacion will take delivery of the press at its Bielfeld, Germany, facility where it is anticipated that full scale production will begin in April of 2017.

With die space of more than nine square meters, the Arisa press for Gestamp is powered by six Siemens servo motors featuring a state-of-the-art energy management system. From the foundation to the crown, the 52-ft.-high press will require more than 40 truckloads to ship.

The press will feature an Arisa-designed transfer mechanism, allowing high-tensile material to travel through the die space at high production rates while maintaining precise part tolerances required by Gestamp. In addition, the Arisa turnkey system will include fully integrated controls, production software and automated quick die changing units.

Arisa’s large-capacity product offering continues to expand. In addition to the 5000-ton servo press, the company has received an order for a 4500-ton mechanical transfer press destined for a Michigan stamping plant, with an expected production startup of early-2018.

Based in Logroño, Spain, Arisa was acquired by Nidec Minster (www.minster.com) in 2015.

Market for Rapid Prototyping Materials to Grow through 2021

Thursday, December 15, 2016

The worldwide rapid prototyping materials market is expected to reach $903.8 million by 2021, at a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 26.8 percent from 2016 to 2021, according to a new report at Researchandmarkets.com.

Because rapid prototyping is used in the additive-manufacturing (AM) process to create testing models, AM is helping to drive the growth of the rapid prototyping materials market during the forecast period. Worldwide, the manufacturing and construction end-user segment of the market is expected to lead all segments in growth.

According to the report, the rapid prototyping materials market in the Asia-Pacific region is expected to grow at the highest CAGR between 2016 and 2021. This growth is mainly attributed to the increasing demand of rapid prototyping materials across varied end-use industries, such as healthcare, consumer goods, and aerospace and defense. Moreover, low-cost and easy availability of raw materials is another significant factor propelling the growth of the market in this region.
