What is Lubrication?

Lubrication is the process of reducing heat and friction when forming parts. Dry and wet lubricants are applied in a variety of ways to part material and tooling to provide higher-quality parts that can be formed and released more easily without damaging or excessively wearing tooling.

What are Lubricants?

Lubricants for stamping are oils, water-based fluids, synthetics or even dry materials used to minimize friction between the workpiece and tooling during a metal stamping operation. Lubricants also are used during the machining process to make die components.
