The systems consist of knives, spacers and stripper rings, all driven by a custom-designed computer program eliminating the use of plastic shims. By not using plastic shims in the setup, certainty in clearances increase across all cuts on the arbor, according to company literature, which goes on to explain that shimless tooling helps in minimizing wastes, as slit width accuracy is consistent over various setups, meaning no more trial-and-error methods to generate perfect slits.
