APT-skylines-press-hardeningElectrification, multi-part integration, and higher share of recycled material—the ongoing automotive evolution drives the development of new metal forming technology. Case in point: AP&T’s new, fully automated Skylines press-hardening line. To maximize production capacity for large-scale sheet metal with minimal energy consumption, Skylines features a flexible, vertical design that also is modular and scalable. The line therefore requires minimal floor space, say company officials.

Included with each AP&T Skylines system: energy-efficient servo presses; flexible linear automation with Speedfeeders; high-quality tools; and compact multi-layer furnaces. Compared to a traditional roller-hearth furnace, the vertical multi-layer furnace can handle significantly larger sheet metal and more complex components without being limited by the furnace’s dimensions. In addition, it reportedly offers significantly lower energy consumption and CO₂ emissions.
