High-volume end trimming for hydroformed parts Vulcan Tool Corp., Dayton, OH, has adapted the Brehm shimmy die for high-production end trimming of hydroformed parts. The use of this shear-cutting method eliminates downstream operations such as deburring and cleaning. The trim line may be flat, contoured or have notches and tabs, and the die will trim any type of material that can be pierced or blanked, from 0.005-in.-thick brass to 0.250-in.-thick steel. The die can be used with any type of mechanical or hydraulic press or can be designed as a stand-alone machine with its own hydraulic system.
