Siemens-Betacom-MxD-Cobot-5G-network-cybersecurity-Industy-4.0Betacom, a provider of private wireless networks, has partnered with Siemens Industries to deploy what reportedly is a first-of-its-kind private 5G network platform at MxD (Manufacturing x Digital), the National Center for Cybersecurity in Manufacturing in Chicago, IL. The platform is the first complete private wireless network to operate behind a Siemens firewall, demonstrating the future of secure enterprise connectivity, according to officials from both companies.

"Manufacturing enterprises need more than just network connectivity—they need a complete solution that seamlessly enables Industry 4.0 applications while maintaining total control of their data and operations," says Johan Bjorklund, Betacom CEO. "By partnering with Siemens at MxD, we're providing manufacturers with a blueprint for digital transformation … to create a truly comprehensive platform for smart manufacturing innovation."

The platform demonstrates how enterprises can  deploy complete private wireless infrastructure behind their firewalls; maintain full control of network operations and connected devices; enable seamless integration of Industry 4.0 applications; and ensure end-to-end security across IT and operational technology (OT) environments.

Industries benefiting from this complete private 5G solution include manufacturing, logistics, defense contractors and supply-chain operations. MxD equips U.S. factories with digital tools, cybersecurity and workforce expertise. The MxD facility showcases practical applications, including autonomous guided vehicles and unmanned forklifts; robotic systems and cobots; machine vision and quality control; real-time asset tracking; digital-twin implementation; and Industrial Internet of Things sensor integration.

Berardino Baratta, MxD CEO, will provide the opening keynote presentation, The Digital Factory of the Future, at MetalForming’s and the Precision Metalforming Association’s Fabrication Strategy Summit, May 21-22 in Northbrook, IL.
