New Coating for Forming, Stamping Tools
August 1, 2008Comments
Sputtek Inc., Toronto, Ontario, Canada, introduces its V-10 metallurgical bonded coating, for application to metalforming tooling through an intermediate diffused layer. The coating, which can be applied after TD or CVD coating, reportedly withstands the high forming pressures used with high-strength low-alloy steels and stainless steels. Its low coefficient of friction avoids galling. And, the coating can be reapplied multiple times without distorting the part or reducing tool life.
