Organizers of the Fourth ASTM Symposium on Structural Integrity of Additive Manufactured Materials and Parts, Oct. 8-10, in Washington, DC, have extended the deadline for preliminary abstract submissions from May 15 to May 31. Using the online form authors must submit 200- to 250-word abstracts by the new deadline.

The event provides a forum for the exchange of ideas regarding the structural integrity of material and components fabricated using additive manufacturing (AM), with a focus on the lack of industry standards, design principles, as well as qualification and certification criteria. Paper topics include, but are not limited to:
• Effects of surface roughness, geometry, heat treatment, residual stress, feedstock, etc.;
• Mechanical behavior of lattice structure and metamaterials;
• Nondestructive evaluation of components fabricated using AM;
• Effects of defect and acceptance criteria for AM parts;
• Standards for qualification of AM process/materials/components;
• Applicability of existing mechanical test methods to AM parts;
• Development of new test methods for AM parts;
• Effects of process and design parameters on structural integrity;
• Process optimization to improve the performance of AM parts;
• Microstructure-property predictive models for AM parts;
• Multiscale modeling for the mechanical behavior of AM materials;
• Structural integrity of AM biomaterials (polymers, cobalt chromium, titanium alloys, stainless steels, etc.)
