3M and Shale-Inland, Chicago, IL, announced the launch of 3M Protective Laser Tape, developed for metal fabricators to temporarily protect the finish of stainless-steel, carbon-steel and aluminum sheets during laser cutting and storage. The tape is a white polyolefin film coated with a high-performance adhesive that, unlike traditional protective tapes, helps prevent ballooning, edge shredding and other problems that can arise during laser cutting. Its adhesive technology provides reliable surface adhesion with excellent thermal stability, and allows easier removal than previously available tapes, say company officials.
