The speed and flexibility to respond to production demands, reduced toll-processing fees, reduced scrap and improved quality—all are reasons why beverage-cooler manufacturer Frigoglass North America, Spartanburg, SC, decided to install a new cut-to-length (CTL) line and bring blanking inhouse. The line, manufactured by Coe Press Equipment, Sterling Heights, MI, features a servo roll feed, straightener with 5-in. pinch rolls, and an integrated 60-in. hydraulic shear and single-station drop stacker. It can process coils to 60 in. wide by 20,000 lb., with the ability to handle prepainted steel to 0.078 in. thick at 60 in. wide, and 0.090 in. wide at 48 in. wide. Maximum speed is 30 strokes/min., 120 ft./min.
