Hydraulic Deep-Draw Press to Columbia Metal Spinning

Tuesday, March 28, 2017

Columbia Metal Spinning, Chicago, IL, a producer of precision metal spun and deep-drawn parts, has awarded Beckwood Press Co., St. Louis, MO, a contract to produce a custom 450-ton hydraulic deep-draw press. Scheduled for completion in August 2017, the machinery will expand Columbia Metal Spinning’s large-diameter draw-forming capabilities and supplement its existing 250-ton hydraulic press.

Beckwood engineers will develop an intuitive controls system that operates in both manual and semi-automatic modes. Additionally, Beckwood’s PressLink connect module will be included to offer support and troubleshooting, and facilitate program updates without the need for an onsite service visit.

Bodycote in France Earns MedAccred Accreditation

Friday, March 24, 2017

Bodycote, a global heattreating-services provider, announced that its Nogent location is the first facility in France to earn MedAccred accreditation, from Performance Review Institute. This, along with its Derby, United Kingdom, and Ipswich, MA, locations, makes Bodycote the first company to receive multiple MedAccred accreditations, according to company officials.
MedAccred is an industry-managed approach to ensuring manufacturing-process quality throughout the medical-device supply chain. It establishes stringent consensus audit criteria based on industry and specific OEM requirements that ensure compliance and quality.
Located near the Alsace Biovalley and Franche-Comté microtechnology clusters, Bodycote Nogent offers heattreatment services for the medical-device and implants markets in France and Europe. The plant’s complementary partnership with Bodycote’s hot-isostatic-pressing plant in MagnyCours (also in France) enables full thermal-processing capability.
