ABB-AR-ViewerABB’s new RobotStudio Augmented Reality (AR) viewer app allows the use of a smartphone or tablet to provide a convenient way of visualizing where and how robotic automation can fit into a process. Added to the PC-based ABB RobotStudio offline programming software, the AR viewer app can be used to test any model created in RobotStudio, enabling users to get an idea of the size and scale of a robot or robot cell and how it can be deployed on a factory floor to fit around any existing production equipment. Using AR technology, the app overlays the modelled solution into the real-life production environment, with the ability to scale it to full size and rotate it through a variety of angles to achieve the best result.

The benefits of the AR Viewer extend to being able to watch the model in action. A timeline feature allows for checking the cycle time and going quickly to a certain point in time in the animation to enhance performance or pinpoint a potential issue.

The AR viewer is available free of charge at the Apple Store and Google Play Store and viewable on any compatible smart device. It is ideal for companies new to robotic automation, or those that previously lacked the time or resources to start planning an installation.

And, RobotStudio is available free of charge until December 31, 2020, with a free training course available.
