sheet hydroforming presses, forming high-strength alloys is easy. Their
high forming pressures, intuitive controls, and net-shape part
production make them an ideal machine for stampers, but what exactly
goes into achieving good parts? This whitepaper dives into controlling
material flow, blank design, tooling materials, and more.
manufacturing activity picked up in May as demand for goods remains
strong, which could further allay fears of an imminent recession, but a
measure of factory employment contracted for the first time in nearly a
large die and plate projects with Superior Die Set Corporation. SDSC

Call for Presentations: Hot Stamping Conference
Coming November 29-30, 2022, in Novi, MI, is the 4th annual Hot Stamping Experience and Tech Tour, from MetalForming
magazine and the Precision Metalforming Association. Highlighted by a
tour of the GNS North America hot stamping facility in Canton Township,
MI, the conference will feature several technical presentations from
leading experts in the field.
Want to join the lineup of speakers? The Call for Presentations for the 2022 Hot Stamping Experience and Tech Tour is open. We’re looking for technical presentations on new materials; new technology related to presses, ovens, controls, and automation equipment; best practices for hot stamping, as well as for 3D laser cutting and welding of hot-stamped materials; and more.
You are invited to submit a presentation proposal to MetalForming editorial director Brad Kuvin; deadline is July 29.

“Time to market is critical for our customers,” Chris Zuzick, vice president of Waukesha Metal Products, tells Brad Kuvin, editorial director of MetalForming, during Kuvin’s latest installment of monthly Q&A sessions with metal forming executives. “We must ensure that we’re not just performing tasks simply because it’s the way we’ve always done so. I constantly explain to the team that our customers expect more from us, and encourage them to step out of their traditional methods of doing things.”
What’s wetter? Imagine you jump in a pool, whether you take a quick dunk or float around for a while, you are equally as wet as the moment you hit the water. The same is true with metal forming. There is a point when your stock is completely lubricated, and extra fluid is waste.
Using a Unist Uni-Roller® you can expect up to 50% fluid savings. The Uni-Roller® applies a clean and consistent coating to both sides your stock. The minimum fluid coating lubricates your stock as equally as a dunk tank, using only a fraction of the fluid. With even application the lubricant is always where it’s needed, protecting your die. Ready to experience a cleaner work environment and reduced downstream cleaning costs?
North American companies started the year by purchasing the most robots ever in a single quarter, according to the Association for Advancing Automation. Q1 robot sales grew by 28 percent (in number of units) and 43 percent (in value) over the first quarter of 2021, and 7 percent and 25 percent, respectively, over the previous best quarter—Q4 of 2021.
seminar will introduce the basics of laser blanking (what it is, why it
matters, and how it achieves desired results). Whether you are a
purchaser, plant manager, executive, or technical engineer, you will
learn how laser blanking technology reduces capital equipment
investment, optimizes for cost-effective production, increases material
