Red Bud Ships Slitting Line to National Material of Mexico

Thursday, July 12, 2018
Red Bud Industries in Red Bud, IL, recently shipped and installed a high-speed slitting line to National Material of Mexico (NMM), a subsidiary of National Material L.P. in Monterrey, Mexico. The .250-in. by 72-in. line, operational since November, is capable of processing advanced high-strength steel (AHSS) and other surface-critical material with tensile strengths up to 250,000 psi (1725 MPa).

The line incorporates Red Bud’s “precision large arbor technology, designed to address the unique demands of slitting ultra-high tensile materials. Larger, more rigid slitter arbors with minimal shoulder run-out are essential for AHSS applications. In addition, the system includes hands-free, push-button strip threading from the uncoiler to the recoiler, and features the quickest set up and change over in the industry. Other features such as an in-line thickness detector and dual-cassette, precision-shape-correction leveler makes this line an industry leader. This slitter also is equipped with state-of-the-art guarding to provide operators with the highest degree of safety possible.
