Report Shows Metal Formers Remain Uncertain, Though More Predict Improving Business Conditions Ahead

According to the August 2019 Precision Metalforming Association (PMA) Business Conditions Report, uncertainty continues to plague the metal forming sector. However, an increasing number of companies project an improvement in near-term business conditions, though the majority remain uncertain and are bracing for a decline. The monthly report, a sampling of 111 metal forming companies in the United States and Canada, shows that 27 percent of participants anticipate an improvement in economic activity during the next three months (an increase from just 16 percent in July). Meanwhile, 46 percent expect no change in activity (a decrease from 60 percent in July), and 27 percent predict a decline in activity (as compared to 24 percent last month).
