Handheld Alloy-ID Analyzer Achieves MIL-STD-810G Certification for Rugged Metal Analysis

Rigaku Analytical Devices, Wilmington, MA, a manufacturer of handheld and portable spectroscopic analyzers, announced that its handheld laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy analyzer, the KT-100 Katana, has achieved MIL-STD-810G and IP-54 certification. The KT-100 proves ideal for scrap-metal sorting and positive material identification in metal-fabrication plants, petrochemical plants and other sites requiring fast, accurate and robust methods for alloy identification.
To guarantee protection against dusty and harsh work environments, the device underwent strict testing to MIL-STD-810G. The tests involved rigorous vibration, shock and drop testing, which focused on impact to every angle of the instrument. Use it for on-the-spot metals classification, including aluminum grades, with results provided in less than 2 sec.
