Electrify Pneumatic Actuators with the New PHD ERDP Remote Drive
November 12, 2024Comments
PHD, Inc. has introduced its ERDP Remote Drive, a
servo-actuated pneumatic drive device designed to simplify the electrification
of pneumatic actuators in a closed-loop system. The drive uses standard air
lines to connect to one or more pneumatic actuators, and enables the power
system to be located near the point of use, offering an easy-to-set-up,
user-friendly solution.
Per PHD, the ERDP Remote Drive will deliver substantial energy savings compared to traditional compressed-air systems. Among its potential applications:
- Automated guided vehicles
- Welding cells
- Crossbar robotic feeding
- Robotic end-of-arm tooling
- Assembly cells.
Among key benefits:
- Energy savings
- Ensures consistent force to the pneumatic actuator
- Removes the motor's weight from the actuator
- Powers multiple pneumatic actuators simultaneously
- No FRL or valves required
- Reduces noise.
