National Tooling and Machining Association Chairman Ron Overton told those attending the ribbon-cutting opening ceremony for the advanced manufacturing lab at Ivy Tech Community College in Indianapolis, IN, that “the manufacturing workforce of the future will need technical skills as well as an aptitude for troubleshooting in a team environment.”

That’s the mission of a new Ivy Tech program, described in a recent article in The Indianapolis Star, which will offer an associate’s degree and train students in robotics, industrial engineering and other related subjects. The lab will house more than $350,000 worth of equipment to create an advanced automation environment.
