PMA presents its Die Protection Clinic, an in-person and virtual seminar, March 11 at PMA headquarters in Independence, OH. Designed to help make die crashes a thing of the past, the full-day event takes its cue from the Wintriss Die Protection Clinic, which has been the metal forming industry’s premier source for die protection and in-die sensing information and training.

Attendees will find out how to get the most out of their die-protection systems, as the seminar details the proper use of various control functions and identifies the most important factors to consider when selecting a system.

Learn the most effective methods for sensing non-ejected parts, feed problems, part transfer, stripper position, slug ejection, cam return, ejection cylinders, double blanks and material buckling. And, learn how to select and properly apply the right sensing solutions, from basic probes to state-of-the-art electronic sensors, for any application. The seminar also explores the advantages and limitations of each sensor type, as well as tips and tricks on sensor installation and wiring.

Leading PMA’s Die Protection Clinic, Jim Finnerty, product manager for Wintriss Controls Group LLC. With Wintriss for 40-plus yr. and responsible for new-product development and sensor applications, Finnerty has helped metal stampers implement sensors and prevent die crashes, and has published numerous articles pertinent to the metal forming industry.

The price to attend in-person or virtually is $299 for PMA members and $499 for nonmembers, with breakfast and lunch included for in-person attendees as well as special hotel rates. For more details and to register, or contact Marianne Sichi, 216/901-8800 ext. 150.
