Aida Wins 2024-2025 Metalforming Technology Grand Prize

Aida Engineering, Sagamihara City, Japan, parent company of press manufacturer Aida-America, has received the 2024-2025 Metalforming Technology Grand Prize from the Japan Forming Machinery Association. It earned the award for revolutionizing the production of a motorized power-steering joint, switching from a sintering and machining process to a cold-forming process using an Aida press. Benefits of the new production method, developed in collaboration with Yuasa Seisakusho, Ltd., include improved part strength; a 300% increase in productivity; elimination of secondary processes; improved energy efficiency; and a 75% reduction in CO2 emissions.
The Metalforming Technology Grand Prize honors joint manufacturing capabilities that enhance metal forming technology via forming machines while combining essential metal forming aspects. It emphasizes the importance of collaboration between forming machinery and processing manufacturers, the value of technologies that span the entire manufacturing spectrum, and the benefits of comprehensive eco-friendly product manufacturing.
