Now that Fiat has closed the deal to take control of most of Chrysler’s assets, creating a new company called Chrysler Group LLC, the focus of lower-tier North American automotive suppliers must shift to working with the three Fiat suppliers firmly established in North America. They are parts maker Magneti Marelli, casting specialist Teksid, and robot integrator and automation house Comau.

Metalformers in particular must cozy up to Magneti Marelli, which builds electronic systems, exhaust assemblies, lighting products, and powertrain and suspension systems. The firm operates several facilities in Farmington Hills, MI, as well as plants in Sanford, NC (powertrain), Kingsport, TN (suspension systems), and three plants in Mexico that manufacture lighting and electronic systems.
