Cobot Welding and Other RaaS Applications
November 2, 2023Comments
As seen at FABTECH 2023…MetalForming visited the booth of Robotics as a Service (RaaS) provider Formic, which displayed a cobot-controlled welding table. The company has deployed more than 500 systems, according to company officials, and its 100-plus system-integrator partners account for more than 5000 deployments.
Formic’s RaaS solution delivers full-functioning, robotic solutions from robotic vendors such as Fanuc, Universal Robots and Yaskawa Motoman to small and mid-sized manufacturer customers that pay by the hour for usage. Formic owns, programs, installs and maintains the robots at its own cost and operates a model where manufacturing users do not pay until the system is deployed and fully operational. Additionally, company officials note, once new systems are activated, Formic covers all the engineering and costs for repair and maintenance and does not charge hourly fees during any downtime.
