Esab Cutting Systems, Florence, SC, introduces the Vision 51R Control, designed as a retrofit onto cutting gantries under the direction of older Vision series controls. The 51R combines the reliability of a solid-state PC-based control with the stability of the Windows CE operating system. Use it to update cutting machines running single box controls from the Vision 4-Series, including the Vision 500, 1000, 2000, 2000C and 3000. With simple field wiring and identical mounting configuration, hardware installation “is a breeze,” say company officials.

With four tool-station controls, the Vision 51R can handle most cutting-machine applications, including plasma, oxyfuel, and marker stations in any combination with as many as four cutting heads. Existing process-control I/O hardware typically can be reused, minimizing overall retrofit cost and installation time. Further, operators can leverage the control’s Windows operating system for networking and USB support, to enhance communications and quicken program transfer. A built-in process database simplifies setup by automatically setting parameters including cutting speed, kerf offset and timers based on material type and thickness and desired cut quality.
