According to a Financial Times report, the automotive industry could face a crippling shortage of aluminum, caused by China’s power crisis threatening the supply of a key alloying element—magnesium.   “Thirty-five percent of downstream demand for magnesium is auto sheet—so if magnesium supply stops, the entire auto industry will potentially be forced to stop," the article stresses.
