Medical-device contract manufacturer Micro, Somerset, NJ, celebrates its 80th anniversary in 2025. The firm manufactures precision medical components, subassemblies and complete devices for laparoscopic and robotic-assisted surgical procedures.

Founded in 1945 in Maplewood, NJ, as Micro Stamping Corp., the family owned and operated company focused on manufacturing precision metal stampings. Today, Micro employs more than 450 people in three contiguous buildings comprising a combined 200,000 sq. ft., which includes a dedicated R & D center and cleanroom assembly area.

Says Micro president Brian Semcer, "We have transitioned from electrical contacts for the vacuum tube industry to robotic-assisted surgical devices. Innovation has always been the hallmark of our business, and we will continue to seek ways to improve and reinvest in technology, equipment and state-of-the-art facilities."

Among the processes the company performs: tube fabrication, laser welding and cutting, PEM technology, blade sharpening and surface finishing.
