August 10, 2023Comments
According to a Reuters report, Fiat parent Stellantis has agreed to work with the Italian government to increase the country’s annual automotive production to one million units, reversing a downward trend. Stellantis produced fewer than 700,000 vehicles in Italy during each of the past 2 yr.
The report notes that the Italian union FIM-CISL expects Stellantis’ output in Italy to approach 800,000 units in 2023. Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares recently has said that "high-cost countries such us France or Italy, could only be home for high-value cars, to balance affordability for customers and profitability for the company.”
