Die-Setting Practices and Safety Seminar

PMA presents Die-Setting Practices and Safety, an in-person and virtual seminar, May 1-2 at PMA headquarters in Independence, OH, hosted by Pete Ulintz, PMA technical director, and Todd Wenzel, president of TCR-Integrated Stamping Systems.
A critically important activity that occurs multiple times throughout the day in the modern press shop, die setting demands proper practices and safety procedures as they greatly impact machine uptime, machine maintenance, overall equipment life, die-maintenance cost, product quality, process repeatability and, most importantly, operator safety.
This seminar addresses fundamental die-setting concepts and best practices, including understanding press capacity/limitations; servo-drive technology; and press safety and point-of-operation safeguarding. Attendees will learn steps for die removal and installation; proper selection of die clamps and fasteners; die-clamping methods; clamping problems to avoid; proper setting of feeds and straighteners; and proper feed angles, sensor windows and pilot-release timing. The seminar also will include troubleshooting of setup-related problems.
The price to attend Die-Setting Practices and Safety, in-person or virtually, is $499 for PMA members and $699 for nonmembers. Breakfast and lunch are included on both May 1 and 2 for all in-person attendees, and a special hotel rate is available.
