The L.S. Starrett Co. displays its latest band saw blades, including Versatix bi-metal blades, as well as the company’s new web-based Band Saw Blade Selection Tool.

The Versatix MP blades feature triple-tempered, high-speed M-42 cobalt-steel teeth with an alloy-steel backing strip. The blade’s patented tooth design reportedly dissipates stress during cutting to reduce tooth breakage and increase blade life. In addition, its special tooth set minimizes pinching, making it ideal for cutting structurals and bundles.

These blades include an exclusive Starrett technology, Bi-Metal Unique, that joins two strips of high-speed steel wires to the backing steel using solid-state diffusion bonding. With a bonding area between the backer and wires increased more than 170 over conventional electron beam or laser welding processes, the technology creates a stronger, longer-lasting blade, according to company officials.

The Band Saw Blade Selection Tool provides an efficient way to configure and select a Starrett band saw blade. Input parameters include specifying the blade type such as bi-metal, carbide grit, carbide tipped, carbon, diamond grit or stainless. Users also can designate blade width, thickness and tooth pitch. Results display the Starrett-band saw blade with a link to product details, including blade features and specifications. Users also can start the selection process by sorting on a blade’s product name.
