The Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE) Virtual Annual Meeting & Exhibition, slated for May 17-20, 2021, includes two special symposium tracks on additive manufacturing (AM). On Tuesday, May 18, from 8:30 to 10 a.m., listen in as Dr. Melissa Orme, vice president, Boeing Additive Manufacturing, discusses advancements in the AM modality of powder-bed laser fusion and presents two case studies where Boeing has realized added value in converting traditionally manufactured parts to AM parts.
Then, on Thursday, May 20, from 8:30 to 10 a.m., Dr. Christopher B. Williams, professor of mechanical engineering at Virginia Tech, covers tribology and surface science as they relate to AM. Included are discussions on characterizing and improving surface finish of metal-AM parts and tuning the tribological performance of printed medical implants.
Here’s the complete event program.
