One Trend Noted for Fueling Growth in Manufacturing Jobs
In 2013, from a dollars-earned perspective, U.S. manufacturers had their best year ever. And, according to a Motley Fool article, 2014 sales will surpass those of 2013. However, record-setting sales have not led to a complete recovery of the manufacturing jobs lost due to the recession, expanding use of automation and offshoring.

However, there is one trend noted in the article that promises to brighten the manufacturing-jobs picture: domestic natural-gas production and fracking.

“Fracking has turned the United States into the ‘Saudi Arabia of natural gas,’” the article’s author says. Complete with data-laden charts and tables, the article makes a great case for the positive impact that fracking will have on all areas of manufacturing, including fabricated-metal products and transportation equipment.

Machining Without Coolant
Replace messy mist systems and improve dry machining with clean, cold air! EXAIR’s Cold Gun Aircoolant System improves tolerances, tool life and production rates by cooling with 20°F air. The Cold Gun is ideal for tool sharpening, drill and cutter grinding, milling, band sawing, more.
Hear from your peers how they are using cloud ERP technology
Read the BusinessWeek article that features how leaders in manufacturing are using cloud technology to transform their business. Managing an entire manufacturing system in the cloud vs an old legacy system allows manufacturers to slash expenses tied to hardware maintenance, resulting in an 80% reduction of expenses and better visibility.

> Different Perspectives on Automotive Manufacturing
While attending the Center for Automotive Research Management Briefing Seminars last week in Traverse City, MI, we heard General Motors vice president of North American manufacturing Cathy Clegg talk about two innovative yet seemingly futuristic processes GM is using to optimize operations. Here’s a video of Clegg, being interviewed by Autoline’s John McElroy, discussing how 3D laser scanning “brings the factory floor to the desktop of the engineer,” and how the use of Google Glass inside an automotive factory can support training and quality-control initiatives.

Consistent Stock Lubrication Systems
Nordson EFD
Watch this in action. The Nordson EFD MicroCoat® system sprays lubricants in a fine, evenly distributed mist. The non-contact system uses Low-Volume, Low-Pressure (LVLP) technology to provide a consistent application that significantly reduces oil consumption when compared to other lubrication processes used in metal stamping.

Uncover Design Flaws
ETA Dyanform
DYNAFORM is a simulation software solution that allows engineers to accurately simulate stamping and Predict Formability Issues, Reduce Development Time, Validate Die Design, Improve Efficiency and Increase Profitability. By simulating every detail during the design stage, DYNAFORM ensures the highest quality formed part & most efficient manufacturing process possible.

High-Speed In-Die Installation System
Watch it here! –The AUTORIV A-100 was developed to offer OEMs and suppliers a method of high volume fastener installation In-Die. This eliminates secondary operations such as welding of fasteners and offline small parts assembly.
