Adaptive Controls: Effectively Addressing Workpiece-Variation Challenges in Resistance Welding
Resistance welding (RW) has evolved into an automated process known for its high production rate for joining different metal alloys together without the need for additional material, such as filler metals. Still, RW has its challenges. To address the wide range of workpiece variations during RW, shops must be able to monitor multiple process variables simultaneously, and instantly react to counteract the effect of the variations. This is readily achieved with properly equipped adaptive RW-process controls. Such controls automatically adjust to the conditions of each weld by detecting unwanted conditions.
