DAY ONE: Welcome to Atlanta, and Welcome to FABTECH
FABTECH 2018 opens for business today at the Georgia World Congress Center, focusing on sheetmetal forming, fabricating, welding and finishing technologies, services and expertise. We’re expecting more than 35,000 attendees from around the world and 1500 exhibiting companies.

Meet with suppliers, witness the latest industry products and developments, and take a close look at tools to help improve productivity and increase profits.

FABTECH divides into easy-to-navigate technology pavilions including METALFORM, Forming & Fabricating, Tube & Pipe, Welding, Finishing, and 3D/Additive Manufacturing. The event also provides educational sessions and expert-led presentations covering the latest trends and technology.

In the Metalform technology area, watch the micron accuracy and speed of servo-press technology in action in a high-speed robot-transfer line. Digital technology links the entire production cell for remote monitoring. On the fabricating front, Komatsu displays the new TLH Series high-speed laser-cutting system. The 3D, five-axis, cantilever-design machine features a rapid feed rate of nearly 4000 in/min., and 540 deg./sec.

Check out the 3D/Additive Manufacturing pavilion, and be sure to visit MetalForming’s sister publication, 3D Metal Printing magazine, at Booth B5635.

In its second year as part of FABTECH, the pavilion promotes additive-manufacturing (AM) prototype and part production as well as production of workholding devices and production tools. Visit exhibitors showcasing printing machines, hybrid equipment, materials, software and other AM-related products and services.

The Knowledge Bar, held in the 3D/Additive Manufacturing Pavilion, features small group sessions where attendees can ask questions about specific AM challenges and find out what’s new from industry experts. Conference Reports

The Stamping sessions of FABTECH 2018’s Conference Program enable attendees to gain knowledge and remain proactive in key metalforming areas.

The afternoon program, starting at 1:30 p.m., features a session on hazardous-energy control for machine safety and productivity by Ted Sherna at White Horse Safety, followed by a presentation on sensors for die protection, led by Jim Finnerty from Wintriss Controls.
