servo piloting press feeds

Coe Press Equipment Corp. Booth A2113

Coe Press Equipment demonstrates its new heavy-duty servo-piloting press feeds, featuring completely programmable servo-piloting releases that allow metal stampers to optimize the feed window and the pilot-release window for each die, thus achieving the highest precision and speed for each application, according to company officials. The systems can process a range of heavy-gauge materials, including advanced steels. Designed for high-speed environments, the feeds also feature increased journal and bearing sizes for high torque, speed and accuracy.

These new servo-piloting feeds reportedly offer many advantages over air feeds, including a fast response time—5 msec. as compared to 50 to 150 msec. with pneumatic piloting systems. Additionally, these systems require less maintenance by eliminating the need for hoses and air, and offer energy savings, according to Coe officials. The new heavy-duty feeds are available in styles featuring 5-, 6-, 7- or 8-in. roll diameters, and can process materials from 18 to 84 in. wide in thicknesses from 0.030 to 0.75 in. Depending upon style, drive ratio and feed angle, these new feeds can reach speeds to 409 ft./min. And, the feeds are designed to work with Coe’s ServoMaster controllers, which feature a user-friendly 5.7-in. color touchscreen interface and the ability to store 500 jobs.
