Day Two at FABTECH—Momentum Builds
We hope your Day One at FABTECH was both productive and enjoyable, and that you are revved up for Day Two, because at 8:30 a.m. Richard Rawlings, cohost of the Discovery Channel’s “Fast N’ Loud” series and founder of the Gas Monkey Garage hot-rod shop, will deliver a high-octane keynote. His Fast N’ Loud presentation promises to inspire manufacturers to innovate and take risks. A meet-and-greet with Rawlings will follow his presentation.

Taking the stage from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.: Today’s State of the Industry panel, which will explore the current manufacturing landscape and its future. The experts include Michelle Drew Rodriguez, manufacturing leader at the Center for Industry Insights at Deloitte; Dr. Chris Kuehl, managing director of Armada Corporate Intelligence; and Chad Syverson, J. Baum Harris Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago School of Business.

And this evening’s fun kicks off at 5:30 with an Industry Night event at Soldiers Field, home of the NFL’s Chicago Bears. Come enjoy fan-favorite foods, beverages and a meet-and-greet with Chicago Bears Hall of Famer Dan Hampton. Advance tickets, $50, or opt for the VIP Experience at $75. Free shuttle-bus transportation is available from McCormick Place (South Transportation Lobby) beginning at 5. This event is expected to sell out, so click here for tickets and more information.

Conference Reports

The FABTECH 2017 Education Program provides valuable learning experiences for every member of your team. Technical sessions are presented by the Precision Metalforming Association (PMA), Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, Society of Manufacturing Engineers and Chemical Coaters Association International. Among the topics covered: cutting, finishing, forming and fabricating, management, job-shop solutions, automation and robotics, stamping, and tube and pipe. And, the American Welding Society presents a comprehensive lineup of welding education, including the Resistance Welding School.

PMA’s technical sessions allow attendees to learn from leading industry experts, exchange best practices and explore new technologies. Today’s sessions at 8 and 10:30 will address deep-drawing and die-sensing technologies. At 1:30, metalforming tracks address lubrication selection and application and in-die assembly, monitoring and adjustments.
