Making Supply-Chain Planning More Social Strativa's Frank Scavo blogged recently on software advances being developed to break free from the spreadsheet paradigm traditionally used for supply-chain planning (SCP). Describing enriched user interfaces that promise to apply social business principles to the supply chain, Scavo says: "The issue comes in the 'take action' part of the planner's job, especially when an action affects other participants in the supply chain, such as customers, suppliers or sub-contractors. For example, a planner may be trying to resolve an issue with a late order… (With social business principles) there is no cascading of plans sequentially from one level to another; all levels are planned concurrently." |

| Managing Customer Contact Centers —the New Normal Aberdeen Group senior research analyst Omer Minkara presents findings from a recent study asking businesses about cloud-based vs. on-premise software for managing customer-contact centers. He writes: "Customer-oriented strategic goals such as improving customer experience results and consistency, and reducing client effort for issue resolution rank at the top of the contact center executive's agenda for 2014. Operational goals that are rather more tactical in nature (e.g., lower contact center operating costs) trail these strategic priorities." He includes a link to the full report. |
