IPG Engineers to Use New Laser-Machining Center to Study Aerospace Applications for Laser Drilling

Prima Power Laserdyne, Champlin, MN, has sold a Laserdyne 795 XS six-axis laser-machining center to IPG Photonics for use at its facility in Russia. Engineers will configure the machine with a variety of IPG fiber lasers to study percussion and trepanning of aerospace-quality holes. “This combination may be a game changer for aerospace manufacturing,” says Laserdyne vice president of sales Mark Barry.
